A new sashiko kit features a popular flower motif, blending seasonal flowers with traditional patterns for year-round enjoyment.
This kit includes a white 100% cotton cloth measuring 27.5 inches by 13.5 inches, pre-printed with an 11.75-inch by 11.75-inch "Yukiwa no Tsubaki" (Snowflake Camellia) pattern that washes out with water.
It also contains an Olympus sashiko needle and sashiko threads in red, golden yellow, brown, green, and ice blue.
The lightweight, open-weave cotton fabric is easy to stitch, even in the traditional double-layer method, and is ideal for creating a kitchen towel ("Hana-Fukin"), quilt block, coaster, placemat, or 12-inch pillow.
The kit is travel-friendly, with compact size, visible marks in low light, and a pattern that won’t rub off when folded.
To care for the finished piece, hand wash in lukewarm water with mild detergent and rinse thoroughly. Iron on low while damp, placing the cloth face down on a folded towel to protect stitches.
Avoid ironing before washing, as it may set the pattern.
